Everyone knows that navigating the healthcare landscape can be challenging. Once something starts to go wrong, most of us head to the internet to research our symptoms and find a doctor who can help us. You may rely on the recommendation of a friend to select the right doctor, or may make a decision based on online reviews. Even then most of us approach a new doctors office with some trepidation and a hope that we made the right decision.
At Treasure Valley Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center we feel that it is important to help our patients understand the lengths we go to as an office to make sure they feel reassured when entering Treasure Valley Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center. We are consistently working hard to be Boise’s best dermatologist.
When you call Treasure Valley Dermatology to schedule an appointment you will most likely be greeted by our patient care specialists Kelli Flores, or Ellissa Gulden. They are also the first people you seen when you enter the clinic. Together they have over 20 years of customer service in dermatology. They will help you sign in to the clinic and use our electronic check in system. If you have any questions or difficulty they are ready to help.
After your check in process is complete one of our medical assistants or nurses will escort you to the examination room and complete your medical history and get some basic details about the reason for your visit. Lisa Largent is our lead nurse and has worked in dermatology in Boise for 15 years. She understands the little things that help to put patients at ease and help you to have a comfortable and efficient visit. Sarah, Cheyanne, and Jessie also take great care to get you set up for your initial visit. As certified medical assistants and certified nursing assistants they can perform many essential functions to help prepare you for any procedures and explaining of any test results.
Our providers include Dr. Dustin Portela who is a board certified dermatologists. Mariya Ostermiller is a Physician Assistant with over 12 years of experience in dermatology. Together these two providers work together to stay up to date on the latest advances in the field of dermatology. They strive to practice a similar style to make sure that your experience at the clinic is consistent if you have to see a different provider.
After you are seen by your scheduled provider you will be given a handout that contains a summary of your visit and instructions on how to use any medications that were prescribed. If a procedure was performed you will also have instructions on how to care for any biopsy or surgical sites. When possible we will also schedule your follow-up appointment in the room so that you don’t have to wait the next time you need an appointment.
Following your appointment if you have questions about the visit or need to receive test results you can call our medical assistants who are more than happy to answer your questions. If you have questions about understanding your insurance statement or medical bills our friendly clinic administrator Jean Montgomery is always available to help.
Together the team at Treasure Valley Dermatology works diligently to provide you with a consistently positive patient care experience. If you have been happy with your care please leave us a review on Google or Yelp. If we failed to live up to your expectations please give us a call and give us the opportunity to make it right. We hope the next time your friends or family need a dermatologist in Boise, Eagle, Meridian, or anywhere in the Treasure Valley you will feel comfortable recommending that they come to Treasure Valley Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center.
