It can be hard to get an appointment with a dermatologist. We believe it is important for you to see a doctor when you first come to our practice. All new patients will be scheduled with Dr. Portela unless requested otherwise.

Our team consists of board certified dermatologists & physician assistants with extensive knowledge & experience in diagnosing disorders of the skin, hair, & nails. We enjoy treating both children and adults with both common and uncommon skin problems. We treat acne, warts, hair loss, eczema ,skin cancer, itchy skin, perform skin checks, have a comprehensive skin cancer prevention system, and offer many more services.

Our team at Treasure Valley Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of skin cancer. Many types of skin cancer can be treated with a surgical excision, or desiccation & curettage. Skin cancer frequently occurs on the face or in other sensitive locations. For those types of skin cancer Dr. Portela performs Mohs micrographic surgery, an advanced form of skin cancer removal with the highest cure rate available. All treatments can be performed in the office under local anesthetic.

Our Abilities

Mohs Micrographic Surgery

Mohs micrographic surgery is the the most advanced method to remove skin cancer with the highest cure rate. Dr. Portela has extensive training caring for patients with basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma with this advanced surgical procedure. Mohs surgery is an in-office procedure with only local anesthetic.

While many skin problems are common and can be addressed easily, a board certified dermatologist is trained to identify and treat all disorders of the skin, hair, & nails. We treat patients with autoimmune skin disease, lupus, pemphigoid, multiple skin cancers, cutaneous lymphoma, drug rashes, and many more problems. We will patiently work with you to achieve your skin health.

Acne affects nearly everyone at some time in their life. We understand the stress that acne can cause and will help you develop a comprehensive plan to control and eliminate your acne. We help you find the best plan using topical medications, in office procedures, and oral medicines including accutane. If you suffer from scarring as a result of acne in the past we can help you minimize the appearance of the scars through chemical peels and microneedling/microchanneling
